“I was in pain; the people that I called to get me to the hospital had never seen me like this. I had severe abdominal pain, so bad that I couldn’t even stand up much less drive myself to the hospital. At the hospital when they asked me on a scale of 1-10 where was the pain, I told them 13. They started to poke, prod and otherwise diagnose me, much to my un-pleasure. After 6 hours in the ER I was finally diagnosed with Diverticulitis. Diverticulitis is a common disease of an inflamed bowel, in particular the large intestine. Diverticulitis develops from the formation of pouches (diverticula) on the outside of the colon. I was given a few shots and prescriptions for pain medication as well as antibiotics, bed rest for a week and I was sent home.
I laid on my back for the week, drifting in and out of a pain pill induced sleep eating only Jell-O and Sprite. A friend that had been helping me through this told me you are going to see Meri tomorrow. Meri performed a full body massage on me, while it was painful due to my condition I felt better after she was finished. She told me that my colon muscle was completely flat and needed to be stimulated to get things flowing again. She also provided me with a list of things that I should eat, similar to what my doctor had given me. Within 2-3 days of my visit I was probably physically at 50%, more recovery than I had gained in a week of “following doctor’s orders”. I visited Meri again in a week, I was at 80% and within a month of visiting her every week, I was at 100%. It was incredible what she was able to do for me.”
